Q. What is church membership?
A. Church membership is a covenant relationship between individual Christians who share the same basic beliefs. These Christians take the step of church membership because they are deeply committed to supporting and encouraging one another as they grow spiritually, work together to share Christ with others, and seek to bless their local area and the world for God’s glory.
Q. Is church membership biblical?
A. Yes. A church consists of a local group of people trusting in Jesus Christ as Lord. Much of the New Testament is composed of writings to specific churches. In addition, God’s Word provides specific qualifications for church leaders and gives essential instruction to individuals within the local church.
Q. What is required for church membership?
A. First, all members must have a personal relationship with God by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Second, all prospective members must have been or be willing to submit to Believer’s Baptism. Believer’s Baptism is defined as baptism that takes place after salvation to symbolize what God has already done in the believer’s life. First Euless believes that baptism should be by immersion. A staff minister will be glad to follow up with you and give you further information.
Third, all prospective members are asked to attend the First Step New Members Class. This class is an orientation designed to help you get the best possible start as a new member of First Euless. The class is led by our staff. You will learn about the history of First Euless, the vision of our church, and about the part you can play in its future direction. First Step is usually held once a month on the third Sunday of the month from 9:15 am – 11:45 am. Breakfast and child care are provided.
Q. What is expected of church membership?
A. There are some basic disciplines we believe that all healthy Christians practice as faithful members:
- Active involvement in a small group/connection class and our worship services.
- Tithing/Giving in a God-honoring manner
- Serving in a meaningful ministry
- A commitment to invite others to First Euless
- A regular time of personal Bible study and prayer
We understand the Christian life to be a process, which means every member will not excel in all five of these areas. However, we believe a growing Christian will seek to grow from year-to-year in all five areas of discipline.
Q. How do I join First Euless?
A. There are many ways you can join First Euless. You can visit any one of our worship services and join at the conclusion of that service. You may visit our Guest Reception room located in the Main foyer of our Worship Center. Our Guest Reception room is open immediately following each worship service. Or, you may click on the link below and fill out the short registration form. One of our staff ministers will then contact you regarding your membership.
