The Miracle Story

Everyone will see this Miracle, and understand it is the Lord.... Who did it. - Isaiah 41:20
In one of the toughest moments in the then 100 year history of First Euless...facing a debt of $6.5M dollars and no existing plan to service the debt...Interim Pastor Dr. Bill Anderson stood in the pulpit on February 27, 2005 and asked God to do a miracle. Along with Charles Thornton, the two men challenged our church to re-establish the good name and reputation of our church in the community and around the world.

Calling Out In Prayer

It all began with a P.U.S.H...Pray Until Something Happens. Dr. Bill Anderson called the congregation to pray that God would do a miracle, and to alleviate the burden of debt. But, he specifically called the church to pray three things:

Lord, is this of You?
Lord, what is my part in this?
Lord, bless your people, so that they may give generously!

Stepping Out In Faith

It became clear to the Church that God would have FBC Euless trust Him for the provision. God gave a very simple faith based word that looked like this: As God gave prompting to His people to participate in The Miracle they would be asked by the Leaders of the Church to give $20 @ week as an additional offering or give one time gifts, as the Lord leads. The church stepped out in faith, during a time of great transition, with an interim pastor and staff, and God met that step of faith with a great out pouring of provision.

God-Sized Markers

On the day The Miracle was communicated to the Church there was an overwhelming sense that it was of God. It was confirmed in many ways. On the first day of The Miracle a visitor to the Church was so moved by God that he went home, wrote a check for $25,000 and returned to the Church that afternoon and gave his check to a staff member. God did and continues to do many Miracles in the lives of the friends and members of FBC Euless. Miracles in finances, relationships, and health are just a few of the areas that people have noted God's great work in and through their lives.

Never Forgetting

As a reminder of what God has done, one stone was placed in the waterfall garden area east of the worship center for every $1,000,000 given to the Miracle. Six large stones are currently placed in this area as visible reminders of God's miraculous power and blessings on the people of FBC Euless. As seventh stone was placed on July 1, 2007 as the final marker, signifying that the debt and all interest were paid in full.

The Journey Begins

But, as we learned, debt freedom was not the end, but only the beginning of the journey God had for First Euless. Our Pastor, John Meador led a team to dream about the possibilities of a debt free church that could continue to give at that same rate? What could a church do to impact the world with an additional $1, $2 or $3 million dollars a year? That vision was cast on July 1.

Today, The Miracle is about others who need a miracle in their lives, as well as ours. It's about how one church, calling out to God in prayer, those same three prayers, can send money, resources, and people to share the love and message of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria...and the uttermost parts over the coming year.
